1985 China image

This Landsat satellite image was created during a group effort to promote remote sensing science in 1985.

The United States and China sign a protocol to promote cooperation in remote sensing, cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), and other areas. Two scientists from EROS travel to the Ningxiang area in Hunan Province; the following year, Chinese scientists visit the Black Hills in South Dakota and spend time at EROS. The exchange continues through 1989 and results in several published papers and an overview of the project published in 1992.
