2024 Pedersen Glacier Lagoon Landslide Seismic Signals
Detailed Description
Seismic signals from the August 7th, 2024 tsunamigenic landslide recorded on seismic station AK.SWD, located approximately 30 km (approx. 18.6 mi) from the landslide location. Three directions of ground motion are shown. The gray line is the high-frequency filtered signal. The landslide signal is followed by a possible tsunami runup signal and a long-duration, resonating signal characteristic of a seiche in the lagoon. AK.SWD is part of the Alaska Geophysical Network, which is operated by the Alaska Earthquake Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
