These sea cliffs and wave-cut bench are along Drakes Beach near the Kenneth C. Patrick Visitor Center. Light gray siliceous mudstone in the sea cliffs is part of the Purisima Formation (Clark and Brabb, 1997). On older maps, these rocks were previously called the Drakes Bay Formation (Galloway, 1977).
