This view is looking west toward the Trinity Mountains from the vicinity of Black Butte at the town of Mt. Shasta (along Interstate 5). The Trinity Mountains are part of the southern Cascade Range. They lie to the west of Mount Shasta. Note the cirques (bowl-shaped, glacially carved valleys) high on the mountainsides. A grove of shrub-sized manzanita is growing in the foreground.
