A view of Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō

Detailed Description

A view of Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō Crater looking west, with the main crater in the center of the photo. In the background the west pit can be seen adjacent to the larger crater, which has an active lava pond inside. The northeast spillway vent, lower right, consisted of two smaller vents up until a few weeks ago when a collapse in the highly altered area combined them into a single degassing vent. A lava stream has previously been visible inside, but no lava could be seen on today's overflight.
