Capitol Reef - a view south from the Halls Creek Overlook
Detailed Description
This view is looking south from the Halls Creek Overlook in the southern end of Capitol Reef National Park. At the center of the image is the Red Slide, a massive Quaternary-age landslide consisting mostly of materials from the Moenkopi Formation that had flowed eastward over the hogback of the Navajo Sandstone and spread along the valley of Halls Creek underlain by the Entrada Sandstone (Morris and other, 2000).
