Detailed Description
This view of Pueblo Bonito was photographed from a trail that runs along the cliff face between Chetro Ketl and Pueblo Bonito. Pueblo Bonito has the longest occupation history of any of the great houses in Chaco Canyon. Construction began on the site around A.D. 850. Over time it was expanded and became one the great houses of the Classic Period of Chacoan Culture. The site was abandoned by around the A.D. 1140s (Lekson and others, 2005; NPS, 1998).
