Detailed Description
Grade school classroom in 1905 showing students writing on slate blackboards with smaller 'slates' on their desks. Chalk also comes from rocks. Originally made of the mineral chalk, today's blackboard, pastel, and sidewalk chalks are primarily made of the mineral gypsum.
