Detailed Description

Sediment cores from the beach can reveal episodic depositional and erosional events. At left, a photo of the terrestrial sediment core containing sand layers with different colors and unit boundaries with labels at depth corresponding to the intersection with beach profiles. On the bottom right, changing elevations of the beach from multiple GPS transects are compared at the location of the sediment core.
