Female chukar stands in a mixed grass stand

Chukars are originally from Eurasia and inhabit the high desert areas of the western U.S. This female is standing in a mixed grass area that includes the exotic annual grass cheatgrass. You can see the top of a cheatgrass stalk directly over its wing.
