Field studies at Gede Volcano, West Java (Indonesia).

Participants at the 6th International Workshop on Ash and Aviation (Citeko, Bogor, Indonesia) discuss volcanic hazards and hazard mitigation strategies while visiting the Gede Volcano. The meeting reviewed progress and challenges following the unprecedented disruption to aviation by the recent eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull and Grímsvötn (Iceland), Cordon-Caulle (Chile) and Merapi (Indonesia), and included the creation of the ICAO International Volcanic Ash Task Force (IVATF).
