Gene Silencing

Gene silencing could be used to disrupt various biological pathways that allow plants to thrive. Here, Phragmites plants in the foreground have been treated with (left) and without (right) a gene silencing spray. Notice the yellowed leaves on the gene silencing plants, resulting in a limited capacity for photosynthesis (Source: Ed Golenberg).
