Glen Canyon - Lake Powell's south shore

View of Lake Powell's south shore from the Ferry route between Wahweap Marina (near Page, Arizona) and Rainbow Bridge National Monument in Utah. The top of the Navajo Sandstone is the white cliff along the shore. The partially grass covered slope is the Carmel Formation. The massive sandstone cliff is Entrada Sandstone. The Entrada Sandstone is overlain by Romana Formation (red and gray interbedded units above the massive sandstone cliff). Above the Romana is the gray, thick-bedded, ledge-forming Morrison Formation at the top of the butte. All these units are Jurassic in age (Anderson and others, 2000; Doelling and Willis, 2006 and 2007).
