Detailed Description
The Aztec Sandstone in the Redstone area display cavernous tafoni-style surface weathering. The pitted, often honey-combed shaped surfaces of outcrops form from variability in the rates of dissolution and reprecipitation of material cementing the sandgrains, leading to variablity in weathering rates (Turkington, 1998).
