Detailed Description

At left, photos of a marine vibracore show multiple distinct sediment packages. Representative samples from distinct sediment packages are indicated by the labeled, colored squares and were measured for grain size. At right, the grain-size distribution shows what percentage of each sample is composed of sand, silt, and clay.
