Detailed Description

 

Lower falls at Multnomah Falls near the west end of the Columbia River Gorge. Multnomah Falls is located about 30 miles east of Portland, Oregon along I-84. The upper part of the falls is 542 feet and drops over three basalt flows. The lower cascade (shown here) is about 69 feet high and drops over another basalt flow. The total falls with intervening rapid is 620 feet (Hadlow, 1995).
