Newly formed wetland that formed as the Salton Sea level lowers.  The plants shown are likely less than 10 years old.  These new unmanaged wetlands provide habitat for aquatic and avian life, but the water quality of these wetlands is currently unknown, and the ability of these wetlands to provide a long-term habitat for endangered Yuma Ridgeway’s Rail and Desert Pupfish is unknown.
