Detailed Description

This view shows switchbacks along the Bright Angel Trail where the trail ascends from Pipe Creek Canyon, a side canyon of Inner Gorge (or Granite Gorge as originally named by Powell during his 1869 Expedition of the Grand Canyon). To the upper right, the South Rim is partly hidden by snow-bearing storm clouds.
