Phases of Urban Stream Restoration

Detailed Description

  1. Hydrologic: Precipitation is able to move through the watershed and into urban streams instead of being diverted away.
  2. Hydraulic: Hydrologic restorations leads to flow and discharge through the urban stream becoming less flashy.
  3. Geomorphic: Restored stream hydraulics lead to geomorphic changes in the streambed, stream bank, and floodplain.
  4. Physiochemical: Restored stream hydrology and geomorphology leads to stabilization of factors such as temperature, pH, and specific conductance.
  5. Biological: Previous factors lead to increased biodiversity.
