Photograph from a desert cottontail (Sylvilagus audubonii) found dead in Texas, U.S.A. On the pleural surface of the lungs are multifocal red areas (arrowhead). The liver is mottled dark red to tan and contains multifocal pinpoint red capsular foci (arrow). In the caudal abdomen are two larval tapeworm cysts (cysticerci; askerisk).
