Single borehole tracer dilution logging in long screened wells

Single borehole dilution tracer logging helps maps flow patterns in wells. It is particuarly useful in wells with long open or screened intervals where the information is used to identify the potential for cross-contamination of an aquifer from vertical flow in the well. A dye is introduced at time = 0 and time lapse logging of dye dissipation is done with a special tool. The changes in dye concentrations helps delineate the complex pattern of flow in many wells under ambient conditions (non-pumping conditions).
