Social Media: Biogeomorphic salt marsh model
Detailed Description
A new study introduces a cutting-edge biogeomorphic model (UBMorph) to help predict how #ChesapeakeBay #saltmarshes will change over time. Using UBMorph, researchers found that 404 square kilometers (37%) of vegetated #marsh area in Chesapeake Bay could be lost by 2110. However, the #restoration model indicates that about 400 square kilometers of marsh require either no intervention or low effort hydrologic intervention presently. If no action is taken, over 700 square kilometers will require high effort restoration by 2070.

This synthesis of research models with management-focused decision models demonstrates a tangible advance in bridging the gap between process-based research and restoration needs.
