The three closely spaced lava fountains at fissure 8 reach maximum heights of 115-130 feet. Lava spatter from the fountain builds a cone of rock fragments downwind. The fissure continues to feed lava to a channelized flow trending north and then east to a single ocean entry at Kapoho.
