Tree molds stand amongst lava flows north of the fissure 8 vent. The molds are formed when lava flows into an area and surrounds tree trunks. Lava cools against the trunk and burns the tree. As lava flows deflate the molds of the tree trunks are left and show the high-stand of lava in the area.
