Ubehebe Peak

Detailed Description

Ubehebe Peak (elevation 5,678 feet) rises steeply along the western side of the Racetrack Playa valley. The Racetrack Playa is at the southern end of a major fault system that extends north-to-south across the Cottonwood Mountains from Death Valley near Ubehebe Craters to the north side of Hunter Mountain and Saline Valley. The Racetrack Road basically follows the trend of this active fault system through its rift valley (McAllister, 1956).
