USGS EROS Interns Study Fire in Black Hills National Forest

Birgit Peterson, USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Fire Science Lead, measures a tree during summer fieldwork using terrestrial lidar and traditional methods to study fire severity. The research included the Jasper Fire in the Black Hills in South Dakota and the KNP Complex Fire in Sequoia National Park in California.
