V-shaped lava fountain, Kīlauea Iki, Kīlauea, Hawai‘i

Slides from the inner face of the growing cinder cone, or possibly some other constriction of the vent, occasionally reduced the fountain height and changed its shape. Here, part of the fountain was deflected northward to form a spectacular V-shape.
