View of Palmyra’s main ship channel, lagoon flats, and the Western lagoon
Detailed Description
View of Palmyra’s main ship channel (top center left) lagoon flats and the Western lagoon. The main emergent land Sand Island (center) was made from the ship channel dredging spoils that the US Military carried out around 1940. Sand Island is now one of the most dense and largest stands of the beautiful native Pisonia Trees that the seabirds prefer to nest in.
