Winter Morning Streamgaging
Detailed Description
On January 14, 2015, hydrologic technicians Jeff Kinsey (shown) and Nick Stasulis visited USGS gaging station 01030500 on the Mattawamkeag River. Jeff and Nick visited the gage to make a streamflow measurement through the ice but found there wasn't nearly enough ice to conduct the measurement.
Measurements during periods of backwater from ice are one of the many pieces of information used to estimate discharge during the winter period.
