This zoomed-in view of the fissure 8 lava channel is from this morning's helicopter overflight. Incandescent lava is seen through portions of dark crust that formed as lava cooled to the air. Note the symmetry on either side of the central portion of the channel - this is a visual representation of flow velocity across the channel width.
