Detailed Description

Random Site: 5SM18 East Transect; Depth: 6.7 Meters (22.0 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 4.5 Kilometers (2.8 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 3 years pre-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.1357869,-123.5095144; Site Description: This is a shallow site. Sediment is a gravel/sand mixture. Red, green and brown seaweed is abundant. Six species of browns were recorded including bull kelp Nereocystis luetkeana (0:05, 1:50 seconds), three-ribbed kelp Cymathere triplicata (0:16 seconds), perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (0:32 seconds), Saccharina spp. (0:47 seconds), Alaria marginata (1:05-1:18 seconds) and acid kelp Desmarestia (1:25 seconds). A variety of invertebrates are present but none are abundant. Permanent transect K1 East will be established 57 meters WNW (295°) of this site in 2012.
