Detailed Description

Permanent Site: A2 West Transect; Depth: 12.6 Meters (Feet 41.3); Distance from river mouth: Kilometers 1.8 (1.1 Miles); Pre/Post Dam Removal: 1 year pre-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.14130295, -123.5883331; Site Description: One of our deeper sites at over 40 feet. Sediment is primarily sand/sandy mud with scattered boulders. Annual species of seaweeds are present but not abundant, the two most common being Saccharina spp. (1:17 seconds) and Agarum fimbriatum (1:22 seconds). Bull kelp Nereocystis luetkeana was present (0:32 seconds). Invertebrates seen on video: blood sea star Henricia leviuscula leviuscula (0:23 seconds), giant sea cucumber Parastichopus californicus (0:42 seconds), sunflower sea star Pycnopodia helianthoides (0:53 seconds). Elwha River Nearshore, Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington, USA
