Detailed Description

Permanent Control Site: GP1 West Transect; Depth: 7.7 Meters (25.3 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 19.0 Kilometers (11.8 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 2 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.11852521,-123.31605203; Site Description: This site was established as the eastern control. Depth is medium-shallow. Substrate is mainly a gravel/sand/cobble mixture surrounding numerous large boulders. Red (0:41seconds) and brown seaweed was abundant. Eight species of browns were recorded and mainly consisted of the perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (1:33, 1:49 seconds), Saccharina spp. (0:55, 1:28 seconds) and Pleurophycus gardneri (0:06, 1:21 seconds). The yellow patches on the boulders were the staghorn bryozoan Heteropora pacifica (0:21, 1:51 seconds). Four sunflower sea stars (Pycnopodia helianthoides) were recorded on the video (0:04, 0:54, 1:06, 1:27 seconds).
