Detailed Description

Permanent Site: H2 West Transect; Depth: 7.8 Meters (25.5 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 2.6 Kilometers (1.6 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 5 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.15008216,-123.53277857; Site Description: This site is medium to shallow depth. Substrate is mainly gravel with some sand, cobble and an occasional boulder and has not changed since dam removal. Seaweed growth of both reds (1:30seconds) and browns is about as much as pre-dam removal levels. Eight different species of brown seaweeds were present, including Alaria marginata (0:35, 1:33 seconds), three-ribbed kelp Cymathere triplicata (left of tape at 0:09 seconds) and the perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (0:30 seconds). Horse clams (Tresus capax) have become very abundant. Invertebrates seen on video: Dungeness crab Metacarcinus magister (2:03 seconds).
