Detailed Description

Since late 2018, the USGS ground failure earthquake product has provided publicly available spatial estimates of earthquake-triggered landslide and liquefaction hazards along with qualitative hazard and population exposure-based alerts for hundreds of M > 6 earthquakes worldwide within ~30 min. In this talk, I will talk about how the product works, how it has been performing since its public deployment, and what we have learned from that experience. I will then discuss some projects our team is working on to improve the underlying models, and to expand the usefulness of the product to provide better situational awareness in the hours to days after a major earthquake occurs.
