Students visit GLSC Chesterton lab to learn about microbiology applications
Students from Indiana University Northwest visited the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station (GLSC, Chesterton, Indiana).
Students from Indiana University Northwest visited the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station (GLSC, Chesterton, Indiana) as part of their class in Environmental Microbiology. Murulee Byappanahalli and Meredith Nevers, GLSC microbiologists, led a discussion about GLSC’s interdisciplinary microbiology research and application. They highlighted GLSC’s work with Cladophora algae, microbial source tracking, and environmental DNA (e-DNA), as well as SCUBA diving activities. Students receive a tour of the laboratory and asked questions about field and laboratory activities as well as internship opportunities.
