USGS Partners with Borderlands Restoration Leadership Institute

USGS scientist, Natalie R. Wilson, developed a successful proposal to receive field assistance from the Borderlands Restoration Leadership Institute (BRLI). Starting August 10th, BRLI has awarded a Fellow to assist in monitoring vegetation response to erosion control structures (ECSs) during the 2017 field season.

ECSs are used by land managers to restore beneficial flow regimes, reduce sediment transport, and improve habitat for wildlife and cattle. Monitoring will assess vegetation response to structures and quantify changes in species abundance and composition. By partnering with BRLI, vegetation monitoring protocols may be disseminated to the local restoration community to expand monitoring efforts.
