The Risk Community of Practice (Risk CoP) is an open forum with community membership across all USGS Science Centers and Mission Areas. It is also open to participants from other federal agencies.

Every year, the USGS funds innovative risk-focused research projects with the goal of delivering USGS hazards information, tools, and products to decision makers to reduce loss of life, property, and natural & cultural resources.
Science for a risky world—A U.S. Geological Survey plan for risk research and applications
Published in 2018, the USGS Risk Plan is the foundational document in the creation of the USGS Risk Community of Practice. The Plan served to “initiate and maintain a community of practice focused on risk research and applications to improve internal communication, collaboration, and resource sharing across the USGS.”
