The Risk Community of Practice (Risk CoP) is an open forum with community membership across all USGS Science Centers and Mission Areas. It is also open to participants from other federal agencies. If you are interested in joining the Risk CoP, email riskyworld@usgs.gov.

Every year, the USGS funds innovative risk-focused research projects with the goal of delivering USGS hazards information, tools, and products to decision makers to reduce loss of life, property, and natural & cultural resources.

Published in 2018, the USGS Risk Plan is the foundational document in the creation of the USGS Risk Community of Practice. The Plan established a community of practice to improve communication, collaboration, and resource sharing across the USGS and the public.

Monthly presentations on new and cutting-edge risk-related research
A forum for cross-bureau learning and collaboration
Training and resources on topics like risk communication and decision support
Updates on recent risk related publications, products, and opportunities
Providing seed funding opportunities for USGS scientists seeking to perform interdisciplinary risk-related research

The Risk CoP is a collaboration area of the USGS Community for Data Integration (CDI).
