The authoritative or original reference copy of all USGS scientific software information products must be maintained on an approved platform. As of the writing of this FAQ, these are the two platforms options: (1) https://code.usgs.gov/ or (2) https://github.com/doi-usgs/. Contact gs_help_git@usgs.gov for questions about current approved platforms. Nonauthoritative copies of USGS scientific software information products may additionally be shared on other platforms in original or derivative form. However, all references to the software, including its Digital Object Identifier, must point to the static, original reference copy on the approved platform.
