Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

In-vitro Propagation and Fish Assessments to Inform Restoration of Dwarf Wedgemussel (Alasmidonta Heterodon) In-vitro Propagation and Fish Assessments to Inform Restoration of Dwarf Wedgemussel (Alasmidonta Heterodon)
The dwarf wedgemussel (Alasmidonta heterodon) is a federally endangered freshwater mussel that once ranged from New Brunswick to North Carolina, but now only exists in isolated populations throughout its diminished range. Laboratory propagation in conjunction with augmentation or reintroduction is considered a critical component of dwarf wedgemussel restoration. The presented data aimed...
North American tree-ring fire-scar site descriptions North American tree-ring fire-scar site descriptions
Fire size and severity continue to increase across large parts of North America, driven by a combination of climate change and effects of human land use. Instrumental records are too short to fully understand patterns, trends, and drivers of fire that are necessary to model future fire. Tree-ring fire scars provide centuries-long records of fire regimes, including fire frequency, season...
Methane flux model for wetlands of the Prairie Pothole Region of North America: Model input data and programming code Methane flux model for wetlands of the Prairie Pothole Region of North America: Model input data and programming code
This data release presents input data for plot- and landscape-scale models of Prairie Pothole Region wetland methane emissions as a function of explanatory variables and remotely sensed predictors. Field data for the plot- and landscape-scale models span the years 2003-2016 and 2005-2016, respectively. The data release also includes R programming code to run the generalized additive...
Historical Bathymetry in the Mississippi-Alabama Coastal Region: Bathymetric Soundings, Gridded Digital Elevation Model, and Hydrographic Sheets (Ver. 2.0) Historical Bathymetry in the Mississippi-Alabama Coastal Region: Bathymetric Soundings, Gridded Digital Elevation Model, and Hydrographic Sheets (Ver. 2.0)
Hydrographic sheets (H-sheets) produced by the National Ocean Service (NOS) during the 1800s provide historic sounding (water depth) measurements of coastal areas. The data can be vectorized into a geographic information system (GIS), adjusted to a modern vertical datum, and converted into a digital elevation model to provide an interpretation of the historic seafloor elevation. These...
Population genetic analysis of three aquatic macroinvertebrate species from samples in Grand Canyon (Arizona, USA) tributaries and nearby reference streams, 2016-2021 Population genetic analysis of three aquatic macroinvertebrate species from samples in Grand Canyon (Arizona, USA) tributaries and nearby reference streams, 2016-2021
This dataset contains single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) information for aquatic insect species collected in tributaries of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon (Arizona, USA), as well as SNP information for individuals collected from reference reaches of the Upper Colorado River Basin in Utah. This dataset focuses specifically on three species that were common and widely distributed...
Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (SC20.WDM) for Salt Creek Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 1997, through September 30, 2020 (ver. 1.1, September 2024) Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (SC20.WDM) for Salt Creek Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 1997, through September 30, 2020 (ver. 1.1, September 2024)
The watershed data management (WDM) database SC20.WDM is updated with the processed data for the period October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020. The precipitation data are collected from a tipping-bucket rain-gage network and the hydrologic data (stage and discharge) are collected at USGS streamflow-gaging stations in and around DuPage County, Illinois. Hourly precipitation and...
