Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Pedestrian evacuation time maps for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands tsunami-hazard zones Pedestrian evacuation time maps for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands tsunami-hazard zones

The communities of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are threatened by tsunamis. Experts conducted earthquake and tsunami modeling to estimate the extent of tsunami inundation resulting from a Mariana Subduction Zone (MSZ) earthquake. The USGS Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst Tool (PEAT) was run to estimate pedestrian evacuation travel times out of the MSZ tsunami-hazard zone...

Hydroacoustic Data to Support Embayment Monitoring in Long Island Sound, Southport and Saugatuck Embayments, Connecticut, 2022-2024 Hydroacoustic Data to Support Embayment Monitoring in Long Island Sound, Southport and Saugatuck Embayments, Connecticut, 2022-2024

This data release includes hydroacoustic data for the 2022 to 2024 water years at four stations. These stations are part of a discrete and continuous monitoring project in embayments on Long Island Sound to support nutrient management activities in Connecticut. The data were collected by the U.S Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Connecticut Departments of Energy and...

Data Associated with Beak Deformities in Red-tailed Hawks (Buteo jamaicensis), 1992-2024 Data Associated with Beak Deformities in Red-tailed Hawks (Buteo jamaicensis), 1992-2024

This dataset consists of three tables with data associated with Red-tailed Hawks exhibiting beak deformities characteristic of avian keratin disorder (AKD). The first is comprised of Red-tailed Hawks collected or captured in the Northwest region of the United States. The second is a compilation of reports from citizen science observers or scientific literature. The third is a poecivirus...

Pedestrian evacuation time maps for Alaska tsunami-hazard zones Pedestrian evacuation time maps for Alaska tsunami-hazard zones

Many coastal communities in Alaska are threatened by tsunamis that could be generated by earthquakes associated with the Aleutian-Alaskan subduction zone (AASZ). Potential tsunami inundation from various AASZ earthquake scenarios has been modeled by others and related tsunami-hazard zones have been published (see supplemental information). We used the USGS Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst...

Pedestrian evacuation time maps for Puerto Rico tsunami-hazard zones Pedestrian evacuation time maps for Puerto Rico tsunami-hazard zones

The communities of Puerto Rico are threatened by tsunamis from many earthquake sources (scenarios). Earthquake and tsunami modeling was conducted by experts to recognize as many earthquake sources as possible. Of the 34 tsunami scenarios developed, experts found that 16 could inundate some areas of Puerto Rico where people live and work with significant distance to safety. Pedestrian...

Transcriptomics in Black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) Transcriptomics in Black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus)

Invasive carp (silver carp, bighead carp, grass carp, and black carp) are a highly impactful species with high fecundities, and they are currently expanding their ranges throughout the Central United States. These four species are known to avoid the conventional gear used to capture native fish species, and traditional removal methods are highly inefficient at capturing fish when at low...
