Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Total mercury, bulk density, percent organic matter, and percent organic carbon measured in permafrost cores from the interior and northern slope of Alaska and previously published studies Total mercury, bulk density, percent organic matter, and percent organic carbon measured in permafrost cores from the interior and northern slope of Alaska and previously published studies
This data release contains two datasets (see child items below). The first dataset, "MasterDB-csv-published-final.csv", includes 11,000 published measurements of sediment total mercury (STHg, nanograms per gram of soil, dry), bulk density (BD, grams per cm3 of soil, dry), percent of soil organic matter (%OM, loss on ignition, LOI), percent of soil organic carbon (%SOC, calculated using...
Water quality sites indexed to NHDPlus v2.1 flowlines for the 2012 and the 2017 periods of the U.S. Geological Survey's Surface Water Status and Trends project Water quality sites indexed to NHDPlus v2.1 flowlines for the 2012 and the 2017 periods of the U.S. Geological Survey's Surface Water Status and Trends project
This data release provides a list of 2,304 water-quality sampling sites indexed to NHDPlus v2.1 flowlines along with the verified ComIDs. ComIDs are the unique identifiers for NHDPlus flowlines and allow the sites to be joined to ancillary and watershed information from other sources published for that purpose. The sites include those assembled for the period 1972-2012 by the U.S...
Basin boundaries in shapefile format for study sites of the USGS Surface Water Trends project Basin boundaries in shapefile format for study sites of the USGS Surface Water Trends project
This product contains basin boundaries in shapefile format for study sites of the USGS Surface Water Trends project. These include sites where water quality information was collected by both USGS and non-USGS agencies. The data are posted as a single shapefile with separate polygons for each site.
Changes in imperviousness for U.S. urban areas, 1974-2012 Changes in imperviousness for U.S. urban areas, 1974-2012
This product consists of two sets of imperviousness calculations for 3,535 urban areas and urban clusters in the conterminous United States. Imperviousness is given as the percent of the area covered by impervious surfaces, such as roads, buildings, or parking lots. One set of calculations is for the time periods 2001, 2006, and 2011, based on the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National...
Peak-Flow Frequency Analysis for U.S. Geological Survey Streamgage 05481510 Bluff Creek at Pilot Mound, Iowa, in the Des Moines River Basin, Iowa, Based on Data Through Water Year 2021 Peak-Flow Frequency Analysis for U.S. Geological Survey Streamgage 05481510 Bluff Creek at Pilot Mound, Iowa, in the Des Moines River Basin, Iowa, Based on Data Through Water Year 2021
This data release presents a peak-flow frequency analysis for U.S. Geological Survey streamgage 05481510 Bluff Creek at Pilot Mound, Iowa. The annual peak-flow record at this streamgage consists of both a discrete crest-stage period and a continuous partial-record period. The streamgage, which is in the Des Moines River Basin, is located on 130th Street in Pilot Mound, Iowa. Drainage...
gravmagsubs: Gravitational and magnetic attraction of 3-D vertical rectangular prisms gravmagsubs: Gravitational and magnetic attraction of 3-D vertical rectangular prisms
gravmagsubs is a software package for the R language that provides tools for forward modeling gravity and magnetic anomalies from 3-D right rectangular prisms. The gravity anomaly is defined as the vertical component of gravitational acceleration, while the magnetic anomaly includes the effects of both induced and remanent magnetization. The package can model the total anomaly from a...
