Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Williston Basin, Gas Assessment Unit Boundaries and Assessment Input Data Forms USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Williston Basin, Gas Assessment Unit Boundaries and Assessment Input Data Forms
This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the assessment of undiscovered gas resources in the Williston Basin province in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the...
Contour Dataset of the Potentiometric Surfaces of Shallow and Deep Groundwater-Level Altitudes in Harney Basin, Oregon, February-March 2018 Contour Dataset of the Potentiometric Surfaces of Shallow and Deep Groundwater-Level Altitudes in Harney Basin, Oregon, February-March 2018
This dataset contains manually developed 5-, 10-, and 500-ft contours for the Harney Basin, Oregon aquifer system shallow and deep potentiometric-surface maps. The potentiometric-surfaces show altitude at the water-table surface (shallow) and at which the water level would have risen in tightly-cased wells deeper than 100 ft (deep) and generally represents synoptic conditions during...
Bighorn Sheep Risk of Contact Tool Bighorn Sheep Risk of Contact Tool
The Risk of Contact Tool (RoCT) is an R-based implementation of the Risk of Contact model described in O'Brien et al. (2014). It uses a variety of spatial inputs (including telemetry point data, a core herd home range (CHHR) polygon, a habitat raster model, and a set of active domestic sheep allotments) together with estimates of bighorn sheep foray behavior to estimate the probability...
Simulated rangewide big sagebrush regeneration estimates and relationships with abiotic variables as function of soils under historical and future climate projections Simulated rangewide big sagebrush regeneration estimates and relationships with abiotic variables as function of soils under historical and future climate projections
These NetCDF data were compiled to investigate how two complementary models can contribute to our understanding of contemporary and future big sagebrush regeneration across the historical and potential future sagebrush region. Objective of our study was to apply both models to address three specific objectives: (i) examine the geographic patterns of big sagebrush regeneration...
Sonobuoy Seismic and Navigation Data Collected Using Sercel GI Guns and Ultra Electronics Seismic Sonobuoys During the Mid-Atlantic Resource Imaging Experiment (MATRIX), USGS Field Activity 2018-002-FA Sonobuoy Seismic and Navigation Data Collected Using Sercel GI Guns and Ultra Electronics Seismic Sonobuoys During the Mid-Atlantic Resource Imaging Experiment (MATRIX), USGS Field Activity 2018-002-FA
In summer 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey partnered with the U.S Department of Energy and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to conduct the Mid-Atlantic Resources Imaging Experiment (MATRIX) as part of the U.S. Geological Survey Gas Hydrates Project. The field program objectives were to acquire high-resolution 2-dimensional multichannel seismic-reflection and split-beam echo sounder...
Water and sediment leachate chemistry from the San Juan Generating Station, Waterflow, NM, January 2021 Water and sediment leachate chemistry from the San Juan Generating Station, Waterflow, NM, January 2021
The San Juan Generating Station in Waterflow, NM, owned by the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) is a coal-fired power plant that operates on coal mined on the same property. This plant is scheduled to shut down in 2022. In light of this impending closure, the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) is interested in purchasing the plant's raw-water reservoir for use in the Navajo...
