Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Effects of restoration treatments at the piñon-juniper/ponderosa pine in northern New Mexico Effects of restoration treatments at the piñon-juniper/ponderosa pine in northern New Mexico

This dataset includes multiple data types from long-term monitoring and research on Rowe Mesa, NM, including data on surface fuels, ground cover, overstory tree metrics, regeneration, and tree-ring widths before and after burning and thinning treatments from 2005-2024. This data release includes 8 CSV files: DBH_DSH_conversion_data.csv (data used to create a regression of tree diameters...

High-Resolution Imagery of the McKenzie River, Oregon, 2022 and 2023 High-Resolution Imagery of the McKenzie River, Oregon, 2022 and 2023

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed high-resolution orthomosaics from natural color aerial photographs collected by the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) of the McKenzie River in the Willamette River Basin in Oregon in 2022 and 2023. Aerial photographs were collected between September 20 and September 24, 2022, and again between July 1 and July 3, from a Cessna 182 aircraft with a Waldo Air...

High-Resolution Imagery of the North Santiam River, Oregon, 2022 and 2023 High-Resolution Imagery of the North Santiam River, Oregon, 2022 and 2023

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed high-resolution orthomosaics from natural color aerial photographs collected by the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) of 45-60 km of the North Santiam River in the Willamette River Basin in Oregon in 2022 and 2023. Aerial photographs were collected between September 14 and September 22, 2022, from Detroit Lake to Stayton, and again between July 7 and July...

Northern mockingbird ileal virome variation in Texas (ver. 2.0, January 2026) Northern mockingbird ileal virome variation in Texas (ver. 2.0, January 2026)

A few studies have focused on avian gut virome variation in response to environmental stressors, but none have assessed virome in relation to chemically intensive crops, the production of which effects various aspects of avian health and fitness, and deleteriously alters available food resources. In this study we used shotgun metatranscriptomics (2 x 150bp; Illumina HiSeq 4000 with...

Datasets for the 2025 USGS National Seismic Hazard Model for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands Datasets for the 2025 USGS National Seismic Hazard Model for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

This data release contains datasets associated with the 2025 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands (PRVI). The 2025 PRVI NSHM (Shumway and others, 2025), which is an update of the original 2003 PRVI NSHM (Mueller and others, 2003, 2010). Datasets include model inputs like seismicity catalogs, smoothed seismicity...

Earthquake Magnitude Conversion and Sensitivity Catalogs for the Central and Eastern United States Earthquake Magnitude Conversion and Sensitivity Catalogs for the Central and Eastern United States

Earthquake catalogs are essential data inputs for seismic hazard modeling. Because earthquake magnitudes are reported in a variety of types (e.g., local magnitudes, moment magnitudes), magnitude conversion relationships must be used to convert the different magnitude types present in a catalog to a uniform magnitude type to avoid biases in the hazard computation. However, these...
