Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Particle size distribution of MIS 5a aeolianites across windward islands of the Bahamas (Great Abaco, Eleuthera, San Salvador, and Long Island) (ver. 1.1, May 2025) Particle size distribution of MIS 5a aeolianites across windward islands of the Bahamas (Great Abaco, Eleuthera, San Salvador, and Long Island) (ver. 1.1, May 2025)
Recent Quaternary carbonate island sediment preservation along low-latitude coastal regions, such as in the Bahamas, contain sediment sourced from adjacent marine environments during interglacial intervals. During these interglacial intervals, denoted by odd-numbered Marine Isotope Stages (e.g., MIS 1, 3, 5), sea levels are at a highstand relative to glacial periods (e.g., MIS 2, 4, 6)...
DESIS and PRISMA spectral library of agricultural crops in California's Central Valley in the 2021 Growing Season DESIS and PRISMA spectral library of agricultural crops in California's Central Valley in the 2021 Growing Season
Here we provide Germany’s Deutsches Zentrum fu¨r Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) Earth Sensing Imaging Spectrometer (DESIS) and Italy’s ASI’s PRecursore IperSpettrale della Missione Applicativa (PRISMA) Derived Spectral Library of Agricultural Crops for California. It was developed using DESIS and PRISMA hyperspectral data acquired in August 2021 near Fresno, CA. The 4-bin DESIS image has 60...
Digital Representation of Isopach Maps for Selected Geologic Periods from an Atlas Published by Sloss and others (1960) Digital Representation of Isopach Maps for Selected Geologic Periods from an Atlas Published by Sloss and others (1960)
Information of hydrogeologic and geologic importance from the book, "Lithofacies Maps: An Atlas of the United States and Southern Canada" (Sloss and others, 1960) detailing geologic periods, including the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, and Devonian were digitized from scanned maps. Isopach contours were captured and, along with Geologic Map of North America (GMNA) information (Garrity...
Summary of Responses at the 2021 Colorado River Basin Science and Technology Meetings Summary of Responses at the 2021 Colorado River Basin Science and Technology Meetings
In June and July 2021, the Colorado River Basin Actionable and Strategic Integrated Science and Technology (ASIST) pilot team held a series of 12 Science and Technology Collaboration meetings with U.S. Geological Survey science staff to discuss complex integrated science challenges and solutions related to drought in the Colorado River Basin. These meetings were structured to explore...
X-ray diffraction data and estimates of mineral abundances based on Rietveld refinement for mine wastes collected through the USGS Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (ver. 2.0, April 2025) X-ray diffraction data and estimates of mineral abundances based on Rietveld refinement for mine wastes collected through the USGS Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (ver. 2.0, April 2025)
Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data and estimates of mineral abundances determined using Rietveld refinement included in this data release were generated as part of the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI; https://www.usgs.gov/special-topics/earth-mri). Earth MRI is a partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and state geological surveys and was developed by the...
Molecular resources combined with morphology and geography to provide insights into the evolutionary history of a wide-ranging freshwater mussel species complex (Unionida: Quadrula) Molecular resources combined with morphology and geography to provide insights into the evolutionary history of a wide-ranging freshwater mussel species complex (Unionida: Quadrula)
The freshwater mussel Quadrula quadrula of eastern North America occupies several isolated river drainages along the coastal Gulf of Mexico and northward in the Mississippi Basin and Great Lakes. Previous work has documented high morphological and genetic variation across its range but due to paraphyly of mitochondrial barcodes, variants are currently recognized as conspecific. Here we...
