Wisconsin Lake Superior Legacy Collection Thin Section, NGGDPP grant used to help preserve the collection (Public domain.)
Annually, the NGGDPP awards more than 20 grants to state geological surveys through a competitive process with preservation projects completed in 12-36 months. Beginning in 2021, NGGDPP resumed an annual competitive request for proposals process to fund 12-month USGS data preservation projects. Upon completion of state and USGS projects, recipients provide metadata describing preserved collections and data, and a final technical report describing project outcomes. The metadata are cataloged in ReSciColl.
