Creation of aerial camera system boresight installations in Bangor, Maine; Monroe, Louisiana; and Bassville Park, Florida
Aerial camera systems rely on boresights for defining internal and external metrics. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Migratory Bird Surveys Branch required boresights to calibrate their camera systems for creating georeferenced imagery that can then be used in geographic information systems. The U.S. Geological Survey created high-accuracy boresight installations in Bangor, Maine, in July 2024; Monroe, Louisiana, in September 2024; and Bassville Park, Florida, in January 2025 to provide this metric-defining capacity to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This U.S. Geological Survey Data Report details the methods and results of the boresight installation process and provides camera operators with the data needed to use each of the installations.
