SCOTCHMAN PEAK WILDERNESS STUDY AREA, MONTANA AND IDAHO.
A geologic and mineral survey of the Scotchman Peak Wilderness study area in northwestern Montana and northeastern Idaho was completed. The mineral-resource potential was evaluated by geological, geochemical, and geophysical studies and by the examination of mining claims. The results of the investigations indicated that the eastern part of the area has a substantiated mineral-resource potential for copper and silver. As a result of this study it was determined that there is little promise for the occurrence of energy resources in the area.
