Everglades Vulnerability Analysis Model (EVA)
The Everglades Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) is a series of connected Bayesian networks that model the landscape-scale response of indicators of Everglades ecosystem health to changes in hydrology,
salinity, and temperature on the landscape. The modeling framework currently predicts the probability of vegetation types, wading bird regional nest abundance, freshwater prey fish biomass, alligator nest presence, and sawgrass peat accretion across the landscape along with the uncertainty of each prediction.
The EVA was developed by the USGS Joint Ecosystem Modeling (JEM) lab in collaboration with the National Park Service Everglades National Park and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - RECOVER Program. It is meant to serve as a forecasting tool for use in Everglades system-wide evaluation exercises during restoration project planning.
