StreamStats Channel Width Weighting Services
October 26, 2022
This software release contains Python functions for weighting multiple non-independent estimates of a variable. Weighting is determined by the standard error of prediction of each estimate and the correlation between the estimation methods. The methodology for weighting estimates from either two or three different methods is described in Chase and others (2020). A function is also included to handle four different estimates by discarding the estimate with the greatest standard error of prediction and weighting the other three estimates using the methodology of Chase and others (2020).

Regional regression equations based on channel-width characteristics to estimate peak-flow frequencies at ungaged sites in Montana using peak-flow frequency data through water year 2011
The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Montana Department of Transportation, developed regression equations based on channel width to estimate peak-flow frequencies at ungaged sites in Montana. The equations are based on peak-flow data at streamgages through September 2011 (end of water year 2011), and channel widths measured in the field and from aerial photographs.Active...
